Mailing List: A group of potential or past customers who can be sent can be sent an email or catalog.

Marketing Plan: An advertising strategy that outlines how a company is going to sell it's product.

Mass Marketing: Non-targeted advertising of a product over a medium such as TV or radio.

Media: Any form of communications that is able to send a message to a consumer, such as TV, print or radio.

META Tags: These are descriptive items about a website that the search engines read.

META Tag Generator: Software program that automates the creation on metatags.

Multi Level Marketing: Multi-level marketing or MLM for short is a pyramid marketing system that pays commissions to affiliates who sell a product to the consumer. The affiliate, who brought the affiliate who made the sale, into the program is paid a small commission based on a percentage.

Navigation: This is the way that a person moves through the pages of a website.

Network: Also called an ad network, is a advertising broker who has an inventory of abnner space.

Niche Market: A small and very unique market of people who are often ignored or forgotten by most marketers.

Opt-in: This is what a consumer does to have a mailing sent to them.

Opt-out: This is what a consumer does to remove themself from a mailing.

Outbound link: An outbound link is a link going from one site to an outside 3rd party site.

Overture: Now known as Yahoo Search, it is a Pay Per Click program.

Page View: A server request to load a HTML webpage.

Pay Per Click: Also known as PPC. This is an online advertising program where the advertiser pays a fixed amount for a certain position in the search engine. Everytime a user clicks on the advertiser's ad, the advertiser is charged.

PDF: Stands for Portable Document Format. This is a file format created by Adobe that is commonly used in desktop publishing.

Pixels: A small unit of measurement on a computer monitor.

Pop Under Ad: This ad is displayed below or behind the current browser window.

Pop Up Ad: This ad type is displayed infront or on top of the current browser window.

Purge: To remove unwanted data from a list.
